WITH temperatures struggling to get above freezing, pupils at St Andrew’s Primary School in Congresbury have been studying fire and ice in recent weeks.
The year one and two students have carried out research into global warming and its possible effects on the planet.
And they were treated to an online video interview with British arctic explorer Pen Hadow who has trekked to both poles.
Teacher Jeanette Simson said: “Pen stated that he was very impressed with the questions that the children asked and he answered them in a fun and engaging way.
“The children were very concerned by the message that the polar ice is indeed melting and they have been discussing ways we can help to reduce global warming on a local scale.”
