WESTON College's A-level pass rate went up a notch this year and 77 per cent of students' grades were A*-C.

The delighted teenagers spoke to the Mercury about their great results and future plans, at the University Campus in Loxton Road.

The overall pass rate was 98 per cent this year, a one percentage point increase on the 2013 results, and 60 per cent of students pulled out A*-B grades from their results letters.

One of the college’s star students was 18-year-old Hollie Morgan from Worle, who is partially sighted, and she scooped A*’s in Biology, Chemistry and Maths.

In September she will head to Bristol University to study molecular medicine and said: “I was not expecting these results at all, I was just hoping I would do alright.

“It was a lot of hard work, anyone who says A-levels are easy are out of their minds.

“I’m thinking I may work for the NHS in the future.

“I’ve had a great time at the college, it has felt like home from the beginning.”
