Archant

CHEERS of delight came from Priory Community School's hall this morning (Thurs) after teenagers took a deep breath and opened their GCSE results letters.

Figures from the Queensway school revealed 69 per cent of students gained five A*-C grades, including English and maths, this year.

Groups of friends huddled together before breaking open their envelopes and then queued up to an ice cream van for a free treat, provided by headteacher Neville Coles.

A total of 78 per cent gained a C or above in English and maths and after adding the school’s early entrants – 71.1 per cent of teenagers gained five A*-C including English and maths.
