STUDENTS heard a new twist on a very old book when they had a visit from a Bible beatboxer.

Youngsters at The Kings of Wessex Academy in Station Road, Cheddar, were treated to an assembly by a rapper with biblical rhymes.

After mimicking a rap battle between Scooby-Doo and a Dalek, The Rev Gavin Tyte then asked his young audience to provide musical beat-box backing for his verses.

Pupil Lorna Mortimer said: “The students enjoyed this unique new musical approach to the timeless Bible stories as The Rev Tyte’s mash-up ideas proved that the Bible can be regenerated into a performance that all young people can relate to and enjoy, and students were truly fascinated by the use of this modern hip-hop.”
