Hayley Wright is set to compete on the global stage

A WESTON College student is set to showcase her skills in competition with more than 1,000 other students from 50 different countries.

Teenager Hayley Wright is set to compete at the WorldSkills competition – a biannual challenge where students from across the globe battle to come out on top in more than 40 different vocational areas.

The 18-year-old beauty student made the UK’s 80-strong team after being selected from more than 5,500 would-be competitors, and faces months of intense training to prepare for the contest in London in June.

And her selection had already earned her a visit to the House of Commons to meet Skills Ministers Gordon Marsden and John Hayes.

Hayley said: “There were a lot of competitions but I felt my training at Weston College was so good. It was brilliant to visit the House of Commons.”
