SCHOOLCHILDREN have been helping to raise awareness of fire safety messages this Christmas.

Pupils at schools across the area have been given special festive cards, which they have coloured in to give to an elderly relative, neighbour or friend.

The cards include a voucher entitling the recipient to a free home fire safety visit, which will help reduce the risks of them becoming a victim of fire.

Firefighters visited Mendip Green Primary School in Greenwood Avenue, Worle, this week, which has been taking part in the scheme.
