Bournville Primary School appealing for local people to come and share their experience of living on the estate.
A SCHOOL in Weston want history lessons to be taught by the people who know it best.
Bournville Primary School want to invite members of the community to share their experiences of living on the estate with the future generation.
Mark Adams, headteacher of the school urged the members of Bournville residents association this week to come into the school and share their time of living in the area.
Mark said: “Most of our children’s knowledge of history is based on where they live and that is what we want to explore.”
“We want find out what was the Bournville like 30 or 40 years ago from residents who have lived here during that time.”
“Oral history is a great resource for everybody and the young children need to find out about their past in the area they are living in.”
Mark also believes that bringing people into the school will help bridge the gap between the older and younger generations.
“It is the best way for people who have been on the estate for a long time to get to know the children.”
