AN 81-year-old Holocaust survivor shared his remarkable account of genocide, abuse and survival with year 11 historians.

Zigi Shipper was nine when he and his grandparents were forced to leave their home and move into a ghetto in Poland, where his grandfather died of malnutrition. He spoke to history pupils at The Kings of Wessex School in Cheddar recently.

Hayley Thorne, Megan Haggerty and Rebecca Rowntree, of The Kings & Queens News Team, said: “Zigi Shipper’s horrific, but inspiring story, moved the audience. It was an emotional experience for the students that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.”
