A Hutton preschool has been told to improve by Ofsted, for the second time.

Little Owls Preschool, which is based at the scout hut off St Mary’s Road, was first told it needed to improve its teaching, management, behavior and the outcomes of its children in October last year.

Inspectors have visited the preschool again, but it still requires improvement. The preschool has 39 children, and the report says children are not always challenged and do not make enough progress.

It adds: “Activities are not sufficiently focussed to help children make good progress because staff do not always identify the next steps in children’s learning.

“Although managers identify areas of weaknesses in practice, they do not do enough to improve the provision.”

Inspectors praised behaviour and said children form ‘strong friendships’.
