n A PRIMARY school's press club learned about how newspapers are made on Friday when they were paid a visit by a Mercury reporter.

Uphill Primary School pupils create The Uphill Star every term, finding news from around the area and pushing for front page stories.

Teacher Julie Godden said: “They conduct interviews and they write it up themselves, then we cut them out and stick them onto a page to make copies to sell for 10p.”

Children quizzed reporter Alex Evans about being a news reporter and showed off their work, which ranged from coverage of the M5 crash to a visit to the school by a star athlete.
