WESTON College law students had the chance to get some inside knowledge from magistrates and probation officers.

The students were visited by members of the Local Crime Community Sentence project (LCCS), which aims to improve public confidence in sentencing, and raise awareness of the effectiveness of community penalties.

Senior probation officer Andy Harris and Marilyn Darg, a North Somerset magistrate, gave a presentation at the college about offences and the impacts on victims, sensational press headlines, as well as sentencing and the results that come with it for the defendant.
