Students at Uphill Primary School learned a new skill as they took part in a wheelchair basketball session.

Year six students enjoyed the activity as part of their leaving party.

The school welcomed Kevin Ogborne who is head coach of the South West Scorpions.

This is a wheelchair basketball club which has both junior and adults teams which anyone is welcome to join.

There are advanced training classes and new starter programmes and the Uphill students got a taste of what the beginners class is like.

Mr Ogborne told the Mercury he was impressed with some of the talent and energy on display at the school.

He said: “It went really well. I taught the year six students as it was part of their leaving party.

“I do a lot of these kinds of workshops and there was a lot of energy from all the children.

“They did a lot of things and put a lot of effort in. They were just brilliant which meant it was really good for me too.”
