A GROUP of lucky youngsters at a Weston primary school got the chance to get up close to an Olympic Torch this week.

Walliscote Primary School in Walliscote Road welcomed torchbearer Dot Reaney to launch its Olympic maths week, which includes challenges, a world record sandcastle attempt and an Olympic sports day.

The children all touched the torch before they quizzed Ms Reaney about her experience of carrying it through Washford. Youngsters then handed her a bouquet of flowers to thank her for her visit.
