JARS of baked beans, spaghetti hoops and tuna were collected alongside huge bags of rice and dried pasta as part of a harvest collection at one primary school.

Pupils at Mead Vale Primary School in Kestrel Drive have been learning all about harvest in their lessons recently.

Key stage one students had a harvest assembly on Thursday and the parents of year one and two pupils were invited into the school to join in with the festivities.

But, before the assembly took place pupils raided their parents’ cupboards in search of supplies to help those less fortunate.

The food they collected will now be donated to Weston-super-Mare’s foodbank.
