A MINI-FESTIVAL featuring live music, martial arts and dancing, will take place in Worle next week.
The event is organised by the Mendip Girls FC, in conjunction with Mendip Green First SchooL, and a mystery well-known soap star is expected to attend.
The club, which is the only all-girl football club in the South West, formed four years ago and now boasts five teams with players aged 11-16.
A spokesman from the non-profit club, Paul Ritchie, said: “We give the girls a secure and safe environment in which to develop their football skills and forge new friendships.
“We are leading the way in the South West and there is currently in the region of 80 girls signed on as players, with teams registered in both the Somerset and Bristol leagues.
“We are appealing to people to come along to the festival and see what we are all about.”
The club, which is recognised by the Football Association, relies on fundraising for pitch fees, kit and equipment, and organisers are hoping the event will encourage more girls to think about football.
The festival, on July 17 at the school grounds in Greenwood Road, will feature a main stage with live bands, displays of dancing and singing from community groups, a school choir and cheerleading.
It will take place from noon to 7pm and there will also be many traditional fair attractions such as stalls, a bouncy castle and a pig roast.
