CHILDREN at Mead Vale Primary School have been busy fundraising to get a brand new artificial turf in its playground - and all to help cut down their parents' chores.

The pupils asked for donations to their Save The Parents’ Washing Powder fund, hoping the thought of not having to remove muddy stains from their school uniforms would prompt their friends and family to donate to the cause.

The idea was a success.

The school’s PE co-ordinator, Jo Harris, said: “Our year six children have been fundraising to replace a muddy area of grass and replace it with a fake grass.

“The grass area has just been laid and we are now in the process of fundraising again to replace more muddy areas and a worn, rotten floor of the pergoda which the children use at breaktime.”
