A NEW headteacher has taken the reins at Becket Primary School.

A NEW headteacher has taken the reins at Becket Primary School.

John Clark took charge two weeks ago and is busy learning the names of the 200 pupils.

Mr Clark, who lives in Weston Village, says that is his first priority, before he sets about looking at more in-depths needs of parents, teachers and youngsters.

He said: "It makes a difference that I live in the area, as I am part of the community and have a vested interest in the school.

"I look forward to examining how the curriculum is working and keeping pupils happy and safe."

Mr Clark, who has been a teacher for 15 years, formerly worked as headteacher at All Saint's Primary School in Clevedon after he moved to Weston from the Midlands 10 years ago.
