PUPILS at a Portishead school have found a good use for text books they no longer require.
Staff at St Peter's Primary School were looking for a home for 80 maths books that were no longer in use at the school and the children suggested sending them overseas.
Teaching assistant Mary-Ann Iles said: "We asked the lady who runs the not-for-profit organic children's shop in Portishead if any of the South African orphans involved in the project her business supports could make use of them.
"She told us that one of the chaps there has set up a school over the border in Mozambique and he would be delighted to receive them."
Will Bennett, aged 10, added: "It's really good when you know something you don't need can be put to good use for someone else
