New lease of life for guiding
YOUNG guiders from North Somerset attended a ground-breaking conference to help shape the future of guiding.
Guide leaders from towns such as Nailsea and Weston were able to have their say at the Evolve conference in Salisbury.
More than 50 leaders aged 18-30 took part in the event in which they also elected eight members to Girlguiding South West’s shadow executive.
The committee will help to shape the future of girlguiding in the region and make sure that leaders of all ages have their voices heard during the decision making process.
Gill Slocombe, region commissioner of Girlguiding South West said: “Championing the views of girls and young women is what guiding is all about and this special conference has enabled our younger leaders to voice theirs.
“I am pleased that so many attended today, as leaders in the 18-30 age range are the future of guiding, and delighted that through the new committee they will now have a voice at the heart of planning guiding in our area.”
