A Worle school has celebrated the grand opening of a new state-of-the-art science block.
Priory Community School has opened a £2.5million science centre which is named after the school’s first ever headteacher – Arthur Spencer.
The 97-year-old officially opened the building which has 12 science labs, two computer suites and a hi-tech plant centre.
Neville Coles, executive principal of the Priory Learning Trust, which runs the school, said the new facility is fantastic for pupils.
He said: “I can tell they love it and it is great for the children to have these facilities. I also think it is fantastic to have Arthur here – he really is amazing.
“He was in a French lesson with the students and that is really great to see.
“This is what it is all about, getting the best out of our students with these facilities and that is the same for Priory, Worle and King Alfred, in Highbridge.”
