a refurbished building and new uniforms marked a school's change from junior to primary.

St Martin’s Church of England Primary School in Spring Hill officially became a primary this month, with state-of-the-art classrooms and facilities in its newly refurbished reception and key stage one block.

Ninety children have started in the school’s reception class, all wearing the new uniform.

Headteacher Simon Marriott said: “We are delighted to finally achieve primary status.

“It is something the school community has wanted for many years.

“Last year, we took two reception classes for the first time and the children really thrived at St Martin’s. They have now moved up to year one.

“I am pleased that this year our three reception classes are full.

“The improvements made to our building and resources mean that we can provide a fantastic learning environment.”
