New style academy celebrates making history

A CELEBRATION was held by a Somerset first school to mark it becoming the first in the country to change to a new-style academy.

The Mercury reported last week how Weare First School is the only first school in the country to change to this status so far.

A tea party was held last Friday to celebrate the historic occasion with visits from former prominent school figures and MP Tessa Munt.
