A former snooker club in Worle will be converted into a day nursery.

The owners of the snooker club building, in Nightingale Close, applied for planning permission to change it into a nursery, run by Little Angels Weston.

The building has been vacant for some time, and North Somerset Council has approved the plans.

Neighbours supportive of the proposals said the old snooker hall had become an eyesore, and a new business would be an asset to the area.

They also said the area behind the hall had been used for fly-tipping, and more nursery provision was needed in Worle.

However, some people objected saying there was no need for a new nursery, and there would be extra traffic because of its closeness to Worle Community School.

A car park will have to be laid out before the nursery can open.

The plans include creating an outdoor play area and a bicycle store.
