CELEBRATIONS have taken place in two schools and a nursery in the district after the latest round of Ofsted reports were published.

Westhaven School in Uphill, which teaches children with learning difficulties, was ranked as outstanding by inspectors who said a ‘very high standard of care, guidance and support’ is given to all pupils.

The report stated: “Pupils leave school having gained an excellent understanding of how to lead a safe and healthy lifestyle and how to play their part in wider society.”

Staff and pupils at Draycott and Rodney Stoke First School also have cause to rejoice after their school was graded as good and the early years foundation stage unit was classed as outstanding.

Inspectors said: “The excellent care, support and guidance provided from the time pupils enter to the time they leave, and a stimulating curriculum, promote their love of learning and extremely good behaviour.”

Tiny Toes Day Nursery in Uphill was also ranked as good following an inspection last month.

The Ofsted report states: “Children make good progress with the support of kind and knowledgeable staff who have a good understanding of how to promote learning through play.”
