A primary school in Kewstoke continues to be ‘good’, inspectors say, praising its ‘aspirational’ headteacher.

Sarah Harding took over as headteacher at Kewstoke Primary School two years ago, and inspectors said she has shown ‘determination’ to tackle areas said to be needing improvement in the last inspection by schools watchdog Ofsted.

The report says pupils’ behaviour is good, and the youngsters ‘adamantly’ told the inspector bullying is extremely rare in the school.

School leaders said pupil attendance needs to improve, along with its early years provision.

In a letter to Mrs Harding, the inspector said: “Staff are supportive and share your vision for the school to be even better.

“Nevertheless, you do not shy away from tackling under-performance when teaching does not meet your high expectations.

“This means pupils receive a high-quality education.”
