Ofsted rates council's children services 'inadequate'

A DAMNING report on a council's children services provision has been issued.
School’s watchdog Ofsted said not enough improvement had been made by Somerset County Council and gave it another ‘inadequate’ rating – the same as it gave in 2013.
The report says there has been a ‘corporate failure’ to keep children safe in Somerset and that children are not seen often enough by social workers.
The council has seen a high turnover in its children’s services directors, but Julian Wooster was hired two months ago on a permanent basis.
He said the council accepted Ofsted’s findings and added: “Services are not good enough and improvements need to be made quickly and I am here to help make that happen.”
