THE caterer to eight North Somerset primary schools has been rated as gold standard.

Aspens Services received the accolade from the Soil Association for the food it provides to Blagdon, Churchill, Sandford, Winscombe and Wrington primary schools.

It also works with St Andrew’s Primary School in Congresbury and schools in Winford and Dundry.

Aspens won the award for its commitment in sourcing local produce and regularly uses ingredient from Redhill’s Lye Cross Farm and Yeo Valley in Blagdon.

Linda Grogan, headteacher at Winscombe Primary School, said: “Aspens has always bought produce from local suppliers in support of the community here and that was one of the reasons the company was selected to deliver the meals service for this group of schools.”
