An Olympic athlete was a guest speaker during a sports award evening at a Worle school last week.
Triple jumper Vernon Samuels and Exeter Chiefs rugby player Olly Woodburn both attended the event at Priory Community School in Queensway.
Star performers in netball, hockey, rounders, football, cricket and athletics enjoyed the red carpet treatment before receiving awards for their achievements.
There were also trophies for the sportsperson of the year, and male and female teams of the year.
Video messages were also shown from Olympic gold medal-winning hockey player Helen Richardson-Walsh, Samoan rugby players Kahn Fotuali’l and Tusi Pisi and England netball captain Ama Agbeze.
Head of faculty Tina Delaney said: “This was the pinnacle of another successful year for us and to celebrate with our fantastic students and supporting parents was amazing.”
