SIXTH-FORM psychologists from Kings of Wessex Academy took a trip to the zoo to learn about animal behaviours last week.

More than 70 AS-Level psychology students went to Bristol Zoo Gardens and studied a range of animals up close.

Far from fighting and mating, the animals, from gorillas to meerkats, were remarkably sedate.

A spokesman for the school said: “When students observed the seals at Seal and Penguins they looked like they were sunbathing.”

At the end of the day, the students returned to the zoo’s education centre to present their findings to the zoo education staff.

They learned that animals stay calm in hot weather to conserve energy.

“They enjoyed their trip and learned a lot about animal psychology.”
