THERE were many proud parents when pupils delivered a poignant performance of a wartime tale last week.

Key stage two pupils from Winscombe Primary School took part in a play, called Edith’s Wartime Scrapbook, which tells the story of life during World War One.

The plot follows an elderly Edith Coleman who is moving house and discovers an old scrapbook which rekindles memories of her time in the war.

Children at the Moorham Road school got dressed up in themed outfits and took to their parts with enthusiasm, creating an evocative evening of stories and songs.

The commemorative play marks the centenary anniversary of the outbreak of the war.
