YOUNGSTERS from across North Somerset jetted to the French Alps for a skiing trip.

Teachers and about 60 children from Mead Vale, St Martin's, Milton Park and St Anne's primary schools headed to the Le Menuires resort last month to hit the slopes.

The event was organised by North Somerset School Sports Partnership (NSSSP), a Government scheme to provide better PE and sports opportunities for children.

The students, who were accompanied by pupils from Long Ashton, learnt how to ski, enjoyed open-air swimming in the mountains and practised their French.

They were also able to do a spot of shopping and learn about the local foods and customs.

Preparations for the next trip in January 2010 are already underway. For more information contact your children's school or call NSSSP on 01934 630863.
