School children bring Shakespeare to life

A VILLAGE primary school was transformed into a mystical forest with magical creatures as youngsters performed a Shakespeare classic.
Children from key stage two at Banwell Primary School turned into love-struck royals and troublesome fairies in the Shakespeare For Kids version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream last week.
After their SATs exams the children had three weeks of rehearsals before the big day on Thursday, when they performed twice to packed-out crowds.
Year six pupils took the lead roles, performing in true Shakespearean verse.
Afterwards there was a collection for the April Reeves’ memorial fund, which is raising money for Bristol Children’s Hospital in memory of April, who died in an accident on the A371 in May.
