A school in Uphill has been given £1,000 towards its £100,000 sports hall appeal.

Persimmon Homes donated the money to Westhaven School which caters for children with additional needs and disabilities.

Laura Fulton, spokesman for the Friends of Westhaven PTA said: “We want to thank Persimmon Homes for this generous donation.

“Although we already offer an exciting horticulture department, brand new play areas and computer facilities, Westhaven lacks a dedicated sports hall.

“The school currently has its PE lessons in the space used for assemblies and lunch, but it is very small and is unable to accommodate the students in a full class.”

Steve Roche, managing director for Persimmon Homes, said: “We are delighted to be helping Westhaven School. It is a valued and vital part of the local community.”
