PUPILS are celebrating after their school received an additional £1,000 from the Government.

Bournville Primary School, in Selworthy Road on Weston’s Bournville estate, has been recognised for raising the attainment and progress of its key stage two pupils.

The money has been given out as part of the pupil premium awards.

In a letter, Minister of Schools David Laws congratulated the staff, governors, parents and pupils for their hard work and said the school is of the best in the country for its progress.

He said the school should share its achievements with others so they can learn from its strengths.

Headteacher Adam Matthews said: “I am delighted that the school’s wonderful work has been recognised by the minister.

“We are all very proud of our children’s attitude to learning and their achievement.”
