YOUNG mathematicians from Sidcot School performed admirably at the recent Junior Mathematical Challenge.

Five students scooped gold certificates at the competition, which was run by the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust.

Another five gained silver awards and seven more bronze.

Twelve-year-old Zak Brennan was awarded the best in school certificate.

School head of mathematics Graham Hartley said: “Our department is very proud of our students’ achievements; they show excellent potential for the future.”
