A Weston secondary school has chosen four outstanding pupils to form its student leadership team for the coming school year.

The year 11 pupils at Broadoak Mathematics and Computing College were chosen after a rigorous interview process. Applicants gave presentations to fellow students and staff and the successful candidates were then chosen after a vote.

The school’s new head girl and head boy, Kiera and Kruz, were appointed alongside deputy head girl and deputy head boy Sophie and Ewan.

The students were selected from a team of pupil prefects.

Prefects act as tour guides at the school’s open evening, support staff in break and lunchtime supervision and assist in organising the school prom and leavers’ hoodies for departing year 11 students.

A spokesman for the Windwhistle Road school said: “The head boy and head girl are selected from the prefects and have to give a presentation to staff and students about why they would be suitable for the role.

“The head boy and girl will be representing Broadoak Mathematics and Computing College in the community. They will also participate in assemblies, give a presentation at our open evening and sit on the school council.

“The prefects are a selected group of students in year 11 who represent the personal best values of Broadoak College.”
