A mile-a-day club which aims to keep children fit and healthy now sees as many as 60 little ones running around one school’s playground every day.

Locking Primary School, in Meadow Drive, could be home to some of the fittest children in North Somerset.

One of the school’s teaching assistants, Sadie Carter, set up the club in October and it has now grown to see as many as 60 children take part every day.

At noon each day the schoolchildren put down their pens and pencils and head outside to the school’s playground to tackle the mile – either running, walking or skipping around the playground.

The club’s aim is to keep children healthy, active, and encourage them to spend more time outdoors.
