A SCHOOL in Somerset is appealing for sponsors for its charity flower show in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Children at Westhaven in Uphill hold a flower show every year to raise money for a worthy cause.

They buy plants with sponsorship money then grow and sell them with the help of garden designer and close associate of the school at the special educational needs school Mark Walker.

In the past three years they have won an ‘Outstanding’ award for their efforts from Britain in Bloom.

But this year they are struggling to find a sponsor and are appealing for local people or businesses to come forward to help them raise money.

People can sponsor individual plants, which will then be grown and taken to the Spring Malvern Flower Show.

A member of staff at the school has recently been affected by cancer, so it is even more important that the money is raised, said a school spokesman.
