A SINGING sensation from a North Somerset school will be hoping to make a big impression when she performs in a national musical competition in January.
Sidcot School pupil Leila Fay Addyman sang a cover version, and one of her own compositions at the Hayes Theatre in London on November 20, winning her a place in the national finals of the Open Mic competition at the O2 Arena on January 21.
She was supported throughout by schoolmates and parents, who wore Vote Leila Fay t-shirts during her performance.
The school’s director of music, Bev King, said: “Even though Leila is studying hard for her GCSEs next year, she has still made time to compose and rehearse for this competition.
“She really owns the stage and sings in a way that reaches out and touches you”
