A GROUP of vandals climbed onto the roof of a school and caused hundreds of pounds of damage.

Police have released CCTV footage of what looks like two teenagers who climbed onto the roof of Fairlands Middle School in Masons Way, Cheddar before Christmas.

They are appealing for anyone with information to come forward to help identify them.

Headteacher Peter Elmy said he estimated it was a group of about four or five vandals in total who climbed onto the roof of the school.

He said he wanted police to catch those responsible so that they could pay for the damage, believed to be about 300.

He said: “I don’t feel like spending more public money fixing what they or their parents should pay for. They have come here and caused damage and I have no sympathy.

“Because it’s a flat roof, they cause damage just by being up there.”

If you have any information about the incident, call Avon and Somerset police on 101.
