SEVEN Weston schools – led by Broadoak Mathematics and Computing College – will be performing at the Winter Gardens in March as part of the World Shakespeare Festival.

Broadoak has secured the honour after becoming one of 10 schools around the country to forge links with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

This means it will be heading a project which will also feature pupils from Ashcombe, Oldmixon, Walliscote, Corpus Christi, Hutton and Uphill primary schools.

Broadoak’s head of drama, Emma Thayer, said: “This is an amazing opportunity for our local children to be involved in a worldwide cultural event.

“Each school will perform a piece from the Merchant of Venice and one school will have the opportunity to perform in Stratford-upon-Avon as part of a national event. I’m sure the children will remember this for the rest of their lives.”
