FOR the second year King Alfred School has been awarded sports bursaries for its outstanding post-16 sports players.
The bursary of 250 is awarded annually to all sixth form students who compete at county, national or international level. The funding can be used towards the cost of coaching, equipment and travel.
Headteacher Andy Owen said: “We are keen to promote sport at all tiers from grass roots level through to elite participation.
“The bursaries are recognition of the tremendous hard work, commitment and dedication shown by our students who have to go the extra mile to perform at an elite level.”
Mr Owen also said the school hopes this additional funding will encourage students who stay on to study in the sixth form to compete at the highest possible level.
