Students from The Kings of Wessex Academy enjoying sticky buns for Ascension day

STUDENTS feasted on buns and climbed a Victorian church tower to celebrate Ascension day in one Somerset village.

Youngsters from The Kings of Wessex Academy in Station Road, Cheddar, went to St Andrew’s Church for a special service which saw students singing and performing readings to mark 40 days after Easter and the story of Jesus’ ascension to heaven.

Year 13 students sang Hail The Day from the top of the church tower while year nine pupils ate sticky buns in the vicarage garden below.
