A Cheddar secondary school student showcased his first-rate problem-solving skills at a computing challenge.

Year nine pupil Seth Delap took part in the TCS Oxford Computing Challenge.

The Kings Of Wessex Academy youngster has already achieved a top 10 per cent score in the UK Bebras Challenge earlier this year and was one of 15 students to take part in the semi-finals of the high level challenge.

Seth was asked to complete as many computational thinking and challenges as he could in one hour.

Hundreds of thousands of children took part across the four age categories from around the world and has now qualified for the final.

Subject leader for ICT and computer science Stella Nethercote said: “I am delighted with Seth’s performance in this high level challenge.

“He showed himself to be very dedicated and focused.

“I know his skills will serve him well across all his subjects.”
