ONE deputy headteacher is swapping her classroom in North Somerset for one in Washington DC.

The deputy headteacher at St Georges Primary School, Rachel Clark, is taking part in Discovery Education’s Summer Institute.

She is one of six teachers in the UK to be selected to receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the US.

The programme will be focused on digital integration, including the use of videos and technology within the classroom.

Mrs Clark said: “I am looking forward to learning about new technologies and methods which will enhance my teaching, to benefit children in my class, and also to give me ideas to share with other teachers from my school, enabling lots of children and teachers to benefit from the experience.”

Teachers from across the world will be taking part in the scheme.

Mrs Clark said: “I am really excited about working with educators from other countries to learn about their classroom and their strategies.

“Making these links will allow me to have a global support system.”
