A SCHEME to encourage innovation among staff at Weston College has been hailed a success – with one teacher scooping and iPad for his top idea.

Employees were given the opportunity to come up with ideas that would increase efficiency, save money or improve the working environment.

In the first month 45 ideas were submitted from across the departments.

Among these was the creation of a Weston College iPhone application, the introduction of electronic payslips and ideas for potential new college partners.

The winner was curriculum manager of higher education, Michael Parr, whose idea to introduce a series of awards during the year for staff, including best team work and outstanding customer service, earned him a brand new Apple iPad.
