TEACHERS in North Somerset could stage a mass walkout before the summer.
Those at the National Union of Teachers (NUT) conference in Harrogate at the weekend voted unanimously to ballot members over strike action.
Teachers are set to decide whether to take the industrial action over proposed cuts to their pensions.
NUT North Somerset representative and teacher Jon Reddiford said: “We voted to ballot members nationally for strike action in conjunction with other unions as what has been proposed is just horrific. We will time the strike, if it happens, so that it will happen after the exam period.
“Stories about ‘gold plated pensions’ are far from the truth for teachers and other public sector workers.”
