TEN tennis nets lined the playground as pupils were given their first taste of the sport.

Year one pupils at Cheddar First School were taught the basics of tennis by local coach Steven Pearce.

They were shown how to hold a racquet and were trying to string rallies over the net.

Trish Tidman, PE coordinator said: “It encourages them to something they may not have tried before.

“The whole purpose of it is to try something new.”
