Archant

NORMAL lessons were abandoned for the day at one Weston school in favour of an altogether more exciting – and bloodthirsty – project.

Year five and six children at Walliscote Primary School in Walliscote Road spent Monday learning all about the Vikings.

The fearsome Norse warriors originated from the Scandinavian countries Denmark, Norway and Sweden, and frequently raided the UK between the years of about 700 and 1100 AD.

Pupils were treated to a number of themed lessons and activities, and also got a real taste of the Viking age by dressing up in imitation clothes from the era.
