Walliscote Primary School in Weston-super-Mare held its annual summer safety day this week, with children taking part in a range of workshops which taught them how to stay safe when enjoying the summer break.

The students learned about first aid, fire safety and the dangers of sinking mud.

A school spokesman said: “We had workshops from the RNLI, the police force, Avon Fire and Rescue Service, 4 U Mandy Jones skin cancer awareness charity, and many other organisations came in to school to prepare the children for a safe summer.

“The children took part in activities ranging from experiencing sinking mud and practising martial arts, to creating ultraviolet bracelets that tell the children when to use sunscreen.
